Leopard Spots Malachite
Reminiscent of the pattern of Leopard spots within the pattern of the Malachite. This very unusual patterning is striking and intriguing. This palm sized Malachite also has a bit of brighter Chrysocolla. The stone's name is from the Greek word for "mallow", a green herb. It was used as a mineral pigment in green paints (Malachite pigment is found in the paintings of Egyptian tombs) eye shadows, and adornment. Malachite is extensively mined at King Solomon's Mines. Russian czars used Malachite for ornaments and paneling for their castles, and intricate inlay work. 3.5 to 4 Moh’s hardness.
