Material & Craftsmanship

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral prized for its optical phenomenon known as labradorescence — an iridescent play of color caused by light scattering between microscopic layers within the stone. This piece displays a dominant deep blue flash with hints of teal, characteristic of high-quality labradorite from Madagascar. The owl form is hand-carved,  allowing the stone's natural color and flash to remain the focal point.

Owl Lore

Across cultures and centuries, the owl has been a symbol of wisdom, perception, and the unseen. In Greek mythology, the owl accompanied Athena, goddess of wisdom. In many Indigenous traditions, owls are regarded as messengers between worlds — guardians of hidden knowledge and nocturnal truth. The Stone

Labradorite is a stone of transformation and hidden depth — appearing dark and understated until light catches its surface and ignites an electric flash of blue, teal, and gold. This phenomenon, called labradorescence, is caused by light refracting between microscopic layers within the stone. No two pieces flash the same way. This carving was selected for its exceptional blue flash, which animates the owls with an almost luminous quality.

The Owl

Across cultures and centuries, owls have symbolized wisdom, keen perception, and the ability to see what others cannot. A pair of owls carries additional meaning — companionship, loyalty, and a shared watchfulness. In many traditions, they are guardians of sacred knowledge.
