Jet Stone is an organic rock that is created when pieces of woody material are buried, compacted, and then go through organic degradation. Though very similar to coal, it is less friable. Jet can be cut, carved, and polished to a bright luster. Humans have used jet for thousands of years producing carvings and beads.

As the maker of light, the raven symbolizes the ultimate creator of all things that existed before the beginning.  Honored among many tribes for its shape-shifting qualities, the raven was called upon in rituals to clarify visions, realizing that what the physical eye sees, is not necessarily the truth, and the raven was called upon for clarity in these matters.
