Over 200 million years ago, ancient trees were swept into river systems and rapidly buried beneath layers of sediment, cutting off oxygen and halting decay. Over thousands of years, silica dissolved from volcanic ash absorbed into the porous wood, crystallizing within each cell and gradually replacing organic matter with stone. What remains is petrified wood — ancient wood preserved in near-solid quartz.

This hand-sized slice takes that story a step further. Multiple areas throughout the specimen have been filled with crystal formations, creating pockets of sparkling quartz that catch the light against a warm ground of beige, brown, and umber. It’s a specimen that rewards close inspection.

Seven Gems Chakra Pendant
