The Wonder of Botswana Agate

Botswana agate is among the most prized of all agates — found only in the Bobonong district of Botswana, Africa, where ancient volcanic activity created the conditions for its extraordinary banded formation. The stone forms in concentric layers of chalcedony, each band a record of the slow mineral-rich waters that passed through the rock over tens of millions of years. The result is a stone of remarkable depth: soft greys, warm pinks, and creamy whites layered in patterns that resemble aerial landscapes or the rings of a ancient tree.

About Chatoyant Malachite
