Shungite - Rare, Mysterious Stone

Shungite is a rare black stone composed of carbon, predominantly found in Shunga, Karelia, Russia. This unique stone contains fullerenes, 3-D spherical molecules made of carbon atoms, also known as buckyballs. Additionally, shungite encompasses nearly all minerals on the periodic table!

The origin of shungite remains a mystery. Most carbon-based items stem from decomposed organic matter in ancient forests or swampy regions. However, shungite is believed to be over 2 billion years old - surpassing the age of organic life on earth!
