A small but expressive bear carving in chrysocolla, shaped from a stone whose earthy greens and warm browns mirror the colors of river rock and forest floor. Handcrafted to capture the bear's quiet strength, this piece is as much a natural artifact as it is a sculpture.

Chrysocolla takes its name from the ancient Greek words for "gold" and "glue" — a name given by Theophrastus in 315 BCE. A copper-bearing mineral, it forms in rounded masses, veins, and crusts and occurs naturally in shades of green, blue-green, blue, and brown. It is frequently found alongside malachite and azurite, and is sometimes mistaken for turquoise due to its similar coloring.
