Carnelian Heart - hand carved 

Carnelian, sometimes referred to as sard, is a variety of chalcedony, colored by impurities of iron oxide. It ranges from an intensely deep red to red-orange hue. 

This beautiful stone has been used for since Neolithic times. Carnelian has a long and storied past, and was once considered strictly the property of the noble class, it was often used as a signet or seal (hot was does not stick to carnelian). People holding a high social status were often buried with this gem stone.  

Said to provide energy, protection against bad vibrations, assists in giving a sense of humor & calms the temper.

An underlying ribbon of iron runs through this amethyst heart, shifting the color from deep purple into warm red — a natural inclusion that gives this piece a flowing, two-toned character you won’t find in a typical amethyst heart.

Hand-shaped and polished, the iron deposit is visible as a natural red streak within the crystal itself, not a surface treatment. At 4½" × 3¼", it’s a substantial display piece with outstanding coloration.

Amethyst is a translucent purple variety of quartz and the birthstone of February. The ancient Greeks believed it prevented intoxication — the name comes from the Greek amethystos, meaning “not drunk.” When engraved with the circle of the sun or moon, it was thought to protect against poison.

Light lavender amethyst on one side, deep purple on the other — this heart is nearly divided down the center by a natural color shift, with a single white druzy crystal sitting at the tip like a punctuation mark. The division isn’t perfectly clean, which makes it feel geological rather than manufactured.

At 4" × 3" × 2", it’s a substantial piece with expertly polished edges that reveal quartz crystal structure.
