Pearl Collection

The pearl, known for it's shimmering iridescence, is one of the most highly prized and sought after gems in history. 

Pearls are unique among the birthstones, as they are made by living organisms, Mollusks.  Created in response to a foreign irritant, such as a grain of sand that intrudes into the shell. The pearl material, call nacre, covers the irritant, layer by layer, until it is completely coated and has a smooth, crystalline exterior.

A Chinese historian recorded the oldest written mention of natural pearls in 2206 BC. Pearls embody the mystery, power, and life-sustaining nature of water and are associated with protection, modesty and purity.

The Pearl is the official birthstone for the month of June, the birthstone for the Sun Signs of Gemini and Cancer.
